New Patients Welcome!
Before Your First Visit
We want you to enjoy your entire experience with us. To avoid filling out forms at your initial appointment, you can visit our forms page on this website and complete them at your leisure. Choose from online digital forms or downloadable .pdf forms that you can print and fill out at home.
At Your First Visit
First, we’ll want to gather your paperwork so that our team can learn a little bit about you. If you come in for a cleaning at your first visit, the hygienist will examine your gums before beginning hygiene. Dr. Hale prefers to see patients for a checkup before they visit our hygienist so that he can address important issues that could hinder our ability to provide immediate, traditional cleaning. For instance, if you have gum disease, we’ll need to schedule a deep cleaning. Many people have gum disease and don’t even know it! This condition affects about 80% of the population.
When you meet with Dr. Hale for a checkup, he’ll ask if you have any immediate concerns, like pain or damaged dental work. We may also need to update your records with new X-rays. Our digital X-ray systems emit about 80-90% less radiation than traditional radiograph machines, and the images are immediately viewable on a chairside monitor. We’ll also capture intraoral images with a digital camera wand, then project them for you to view.
Dr. Hale will use our DIAGNOdent laser to scan your teeth for decay, and our ViziLite early detection system will tell us if you have soft tissues that need to be examined for oral cancer – a serious condition that annually claims almost 8,000 American lives. The dentist will examine your bite, head, neck, and shoulders. If you suffer from chronic headaches, teeth grinding, or snoring, let him know. We offer conservative therapies to resolve these issues. After Dr. Hale answers your questions and reviews clinical images with you, the two of you will decide upon a treatment plan that meets your needs and optimized your oral health. A checkup generally takes about an hour.
