Laser Periodontal Therapy

It’s vital to visit your general dentist and be sure your oral health is on track. Recent research reveals that periodontal disease, commonly called gum disease, is linked to increased risk for major overall health problems, including but not limited to stroke, heart disease, respiratory problems, osteoporosis, diabetes complications, low birth weight, and most recently, dementia. Early detection and treatment of gum disease is important, so if your gums bleed when you brush your teeth, or if they appear red, swollen, or are tender to the touch, contact us to schedule an exam.

Periodontal therapy has never been easier, cleaner, quicker, or more convenient and effective. Our office uses a state-of-the-art, gentle soft-tissue laser to treat the pockets infected by bacteria and periodontal disease. This procedure will help remove the disease and restore your gums to optimal health. Soft-tissue laser therapy presents many advantages including:

  • Less Painful- Most patients require no anesthetic for laser gum therapy, but to make sure you’re completely comfortable, we’ll slight anesthetize your gums before treatment.
  • Less Invasive- There is no cutting and there are no stitches. The laser seals as it removes damaged tissue, which means minimal bleeding and less recovery time.
  • More Conservative- Laser therapy actually preserves gum tissue by removing only the targeted areas.
  • Precise and Highly Effective- Laser gum treatment encourages healthy tissue growth and reattachment to teeth, reduces tooth root exposure and sensitivity, reduces infection, and has a much higher success rate than conventional treatments.
